I can just remember my grandmother using a sewing machine like this . . it stood on a ‘treadle’ which she worked to provide power! Very eco-friendly!

Great composition and mood! I particularly enjoy the shadow of the sewing machine. The only thing in the picture that kind of spoils the mood is the reflection of the flash lighting on the wall.

Very nice shot. What makes it work for me apart from the grittiness and the pleasing color, is the looming shadow. For me the shadow acts as a reflection of the machine's past. The expense and importance the machine played in a home. Today, it is worn and well used.
Where are the great industrial designs of today? What happened to craft and esthetic?
